What's New

HBM

Hottinger Brüel & Kjær (HBM) launched a new torque transducer, T40CB, featuring a central bore hole that makes it ideal for testing in confined spaces. This compact model, measuring a mere 1.9 by 2.1 inches (49 by 54 mm) in length has a central bore hole of 1.5 by 4.8 inches (37.5 by 46.5 mm) in diameter, giving technicians the flexibility and user-friendliness necessary for carrying out application tests on automotive parts, such as coaxial transmissions or gearboxes. T40CB operates on HBM’s well-established T40 electronics, which are within the accuracy class of 0.05, ensuring reliable results. The device also features analogue and digital interfaces, which ensure it integrates with many different test bench systems.

RUD

RUD’s new Tool Separator optimizes work processes and ensures workplace safety during operation, eliminating the need for sledgehammers and tire irons when opening massively heavy tools by hand. The device makes the process safer and faster. This latest innovation opens injection tools, punching tools and forming tools in a matter of seconds. Working with the Tool Separator is ergonomic, too, making it a good companion to the Tool Mover Pro, RUD’s tool-handling machine. The device requires a maximum of five minutes and one person to complete the entire process, operating with an opening and closing force of 50 kN (5 tons). Operators can set the degree of force from a theoretical 0 to 55 kN (5.5 tons) and set speeds from 0 to 2,000 mm per minute (79 inches per minute). www.rud.com

OleumTec

OleumTech, a provider of industrial automation and IoT solutions, introduced a local display-enabled version of its flagship Modbus Resistive Tank Level Transmitter. The HW-RL3-LCD provides ease-of-use and flexibility as well as accuracy and reliability. Users can interface the device through its local display without needing any additional equipment or software. The device also offers local security protection by allowing users to enable a PIN code to access the configuration settings. The RS485 monitors the product, interface and temperature levels with a single sensor. Additionally, it has two discrete inputs for independent level limit alarms, local display interface for programming, calibrating and reading process variables, and it can be configured using the H Series software or Modbus master device. www.oleumtech.com

Caterpillar

The new Cat D7 dozer offers high-drive undercarriage design, increased performance and the broadest choice of easy-to-use technology features. A fully automatic four-speed transmission offers optimal fuel and dozing efficiency, plus ease of operation. At 265 hp (197 kW) and an operating weight of 65,644 pounds (29,776 kg), the new D7 dozer replaces the D7E. The D7 moves up to 8% more material per hour than the D7E, with about 6% more weight and 12% more horsepower. Blade capacity is increased by 10%, and the elevated sprocket undercarriage delivers better ride and balance, as well as increased penetration force. The completely redesigned cab, common with the D5 and D6/D6 XE, offers more space, multiple seat and control adjustments for optimal comfort and a 10-inch (254-mm) touchscreen operator interface. www.cat.com

Hottinger

Sensor manufacturer Hottinger Brüel & Kjær (HBM) launched an addition to its MCS10 Multicomponent Sensor line – MCS10-200. As part of the MCS10 series, this latest version features capacities that are double the size of the previous version, making it suitable for nominal loads of 40 kN for Fx/Fy, 200 kN for Fz, 3.5 kNm for Mx/My and 3.0 kNm for Mz. The sensor also offers high accuracy, IP67 protection, low crosstalk, compensation matrixes, transducer electronic data sheets (TEDS) and a wide temperature range. The sensor can be partnered with one of HBM’s amplifiers to provide a complete measurement chain for R&D, education or production tests. www.hbm.com/en

Gemco

Gemco’s 959CT is a linear displacement transducer in a rod-style package with a sensor designed for those using hydraulic cylinders. With its all-stainless-steel construction, the device is ideal for caustic applications and machines with high-cycle rates. It is rugged, with a housing that is IP-68-rated and less than 2 inches (50.8 mm) in depth. Its size allows the 959CT to be installed in applications where traditional rod-style transducers will not fit, or in applications where customers want to simplify installation and serviceability of the sensor. The transducer utilizes Gemco’s field-proven magnetostrictive technology to give absolute analog position feedback, making it accurate to 0.04% of the programmable sensing distance. It can operate over a wide power range of 8-30 VDC.
