IPIC Wins EPC Contract For Abu Dhabi Pipeline

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) have signed an engineering, procurement and construction contract for the Abu Dhabi crude oil pipeline project in the United Arab Emirates.

The Abu Dhabi Crude Oil Pipeline, which will run from the Habshan oilfield in the west to the Fujairah Port in the east, will involve a 250-mile, 48 inch pipeline with designed delivery capacity of 1.5 MMbbl/d and maximum capacity of 1.8 MMbbl/d.

The pipeline involves construction of one connecting station, one initial station, one intermediate station, one terminal station and three offshore single-point-mooring devices, as well as a 14-km subsea section. The project will be jointly executed by China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation (CPECC) and China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau (CPPB). The contract is valued at $US3.29 billion, making it the largest overseas turnkey engineering construction project CNPC has contracted. Trial operation of the pipeline should start up in 2010 with the whole project is completed by August 2011.
