Corus Awarded Shetlands Gas Field Pipeline Contract

Corus has received a letter of award worth nearly £200 million from Total E&P UK Ltd. regarding a pipeline to serve the Laggan-Tormore offshore gas field development in the region West of the Shetlands.

The order calls for more than 150,000 tons of pipeline, around 300 miles in length, to be produced at Corus’ Hartlepool site. The pipe to be supplied will be 18″ and 30″ in diameter and will meet an arduous specification required for such harsh offshore environments.

Remco Blaauw, Managing Director of Corus Tubes, said the pipe would be manufactured at the Hartlepool site through 2010 and into 2011.

Total and Corus signed the letter of award March 23.
