Ziff Energy Offers Mexico Natural Gas Outlook To 2020

A new study by Ziff Energy Group reports that Mexico has a large natural gas resource potential, over 60 Tcf, relative to its 8 Bcf/d demand. Mexico gas supply and demand growth rate was historically above 5%. Total supply will grow to 10 Bcf/d in 2020. Figure 1 provides an outlook of Mexico gas supply to 2020.

David Grevelle, the report’s lead author, said, “Gas demand for power generation and oil exploration operations will drive Mexico’s demand increase of 2 Bcf/d or 25% by 2020. Mexico LNG import terminal capacity will be significantly underutilized similar to other North America terminals.”
