Refined Products Pipeline Planned In Oman

Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic) plan to construct a 173-mile pipeline to connect the Sohar and Muscat refineries. If built, it will eliminate the need to ship refined products from Sohar to Muscat and then truck them through the city, as is done today.

A three-phase construction program is planned. Phase 1will focus on a pipeline connecting the Muscat International Airport and the Mina al Fahal Refinery by the main storage facility. Phase 2 will connect the Mina al Fahal Refinery and the Sohar Refinery and include construction of an intermediate storage facility in Muscat. In Phase 3, additional storage facilities will be built capable of accommodating a 30-day supply of fuel stocks for Oman.
