Explorer Pipeline Secures Funding For Manhattan Extension

Explorer Pipeline’s board of directors has approved funding for Phase 1 of the Manhattan Extension Project.

The project will include 18 miles of pipeline from Explorer’s existing 24-inch mainline north of Wood River, Il to Manhattan, Il, the origin point for the Southern Lights Pipeline. Explorer expects the project to be operational second quarter 2015.

“This direct connection to Southern Lights positions Explorer to capture a significant portion of the growing demand for the transportation of diluent,” said Dave Ysebaert, CEO of Explorer. “This connection along with our existing connectivity and other planned Gulf Coast and Midcontinent projects will provide the flexibility that our shippers value and have been asking for.”
