ROSEN Rolls Out Mobile Pipeline Diagnostics Units
ROSEN rolled out its much-anticipated R3 Service – which stands for responsive, rapid and reliable – before a large gathering of inquisitive industry executives and operators Oct. 28 in Houston.
At the center of the new service is a fleet of high-end mobile diagnostics units capable of carrying all the diagnostic equipment necessary to sites throughout the United States.
An individual unit carries with it a customized workshop and houses advanced AutoDataTM processing units. Each can perform cleaning services, as well as compute geometry, metal loss and mapping services on pipes ranging from 6 to 8 inches.
“This means there is no back and forth between the site and the workshop,” said Holger Hennerkes, Rosen’s senior vice president of Product Management & Sales, who flew in from Switzerland for the event.
Up to 40 different tools are carried by the units, which are extremely short and lightweight. Traveling with each unit is its own R3Field Project EngineerTM who has been certified according to ASNT ILI-PQ-2010 requirements.
The field engineer serves as the client’s main contact throughout the execution of the entire project. Each field engineer is “widely qualified in project management, maintenance, field services and data evaluation,” the company said, and has many years of service in the industry.
“R3 Service is has guaranteed 24/7 availability with the largest fleet of ILI tools and experts dedicated to the U.S. market,” said Hennerkes.
Cleaning and inspection services are performed from the R3 units on as many pipelines as needed. In the case of obstructions, the onboard geometry tools are used to locate and determine the size of the obstruction and then decide on final passage for the metal loss inspection. Once safe passage is ascertained, the new R3Hybrid ToolsTM perform the actual metal loss, geometry and mapping inspection.
The new tools carried on the units are all focused on precision, reliability and durability, and exceed all existing Department of Transportation (DOT) detection and sizing requirements.
The tools are specifically designed for efficient and safe maintenance on-site and are more robust and then others in the market, according to Rosen. Additionally, they are “10 times more energy efficient with new electronics,” featuring the latest lithium batteries for quick re-fill and increased environmental friendliness.
The Mobile Diagnostic UnitsTM will be strategically distributed across the United States at 14 locations in order to be at any site within 24 hours; flexible allows for ad-hoc changes in pipeline sizes and number of inspections possible on-site.
Complete diagnostic results will be available within only 48 hours, which will allow a company’s integrity team to work with the results while its competitors are still waiting for reports. As a result, it is possible to dig up critical anomalies faster, while assessing all diagnostic results on site.
