All of Alaska LNG's Draft Resource Reports Now Available Online

All 12 of Alaska LNG’s draft resource reports to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission are now available on the Kenai Peninsula Borough website.

The reports are the second drafts submitted to FERC — the first were submitted in February 2015 — and will be reviewed by federal, state and local regulatory agencies. FERC also will accept public comments. The project applicant will then need to fill in any information gaps and provide additional details in its final reports to accompany a complete application to FERC.

The state of Alaska has announced its intention to take over management of the project application from its North Slope producer partners ExxonMobil, BP and ConocoPhillips, though it was uncertain as of mid-September when the state might complete the resource reports and file the final reports with FERC. The state had indicated it wanted to file in January 2017, but multiple issues between the state and the North Slope producers need resolution before then — in addition to the state completing the final reports.

FERC would use the final reports as the base for its preparation of the project’s environmental impact statement. The reports provide detailed information on pipeline routing, waterway crossings, community impacts and multiple environmental issues for construction and operation of the liquefaction plant and marine terminal in Nikiski, gas treatment plant on the North Slope, and 804 miles of pipeline connecting the two facilities.

The reports and accompanying appendices available at the borough website are:

  • No. 1 General Project Description, including detailed route maps
  • No. 2 Water Use and Quality, and Wastewater
  • No. 3: Fish, Wildlife and Vegetation
  • No. 4 Cultural Resources
  • No. 5: Socioeconomics
  • No. 6 Geological Resources
  • No. 7 Soils
  • No. 8: Land Use, Recreation and Aesthetics
  • No. 9: Air and Noise Quality
  • No. 10 Project Alternatives
  • No. 11: Reliability and Safety
  • No. 13: Engineering and Design Material
