FERC Delays EIS for Two Projects
Citing a failure to obtain information necessary to conclude an environmental review in a timely fashion, FERC has delayed the release of its final environmental impact statement for the Mountain Valley Project and the Equitrans Expansion Project to June 23, 2017.
According to FERC, in response to comments received on the draft EIS released on September 16, 2016, several environmental requests were sent to Mountain Valley Pipeline LLC and Equitrans LP in January and March 2017, and the agency only recently received the information from the companies necessary to complete its environmental review.
The updated deadlines for the environmental review of both projects are:
- June 23, 2017: Issuance of Notice of Availability of the final EIS
- September 21, 2017: 90-day Federal Authorization Decision Deadline
If another schedule change is needed, FERC will provide additional notice so that the appropriate agencies are kept informed of the project’s progress.
