Hungary Signs Deal to Get Gas from TurkStream Pipeline
Hungary has signed an agreement with Gazprom to receive gas from the company’s TurkStream Pipeline.
The agreement was reached during a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Peter Szijjarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, that took place in Moscow. At the meeting, Miller and Szijjarto discussed the prospects of developing gas transmission capacities in Hungary, along with gas storage, and the possibility of transporting gas to other countries.
The TurkStream Pipeline will consist of two branches. The first will deliver Russian natural gas directly to Turkey and is expected to be finished in 2018. The second branch is expected to deliver gas to European customers. Both branches will have a maximum capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters.
