FERC Approves New Operations as Rover Nears Completion
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) authorized service to commence on one of the final sections of Rover Pipeline as Energy Transfer Partners (ETP) announced construction of its $4.2 billion project is nearly complete.
The FERC ruling allows Rover to start operating a new compressor station and a 51-mile pipeline segment that connects it to one of the two stations approved by the commission in February.
ETP has “successfully completed 98% of the HDDs needed for the project and are more than 99% complete with the total project construction,” according to a project update released Wednesday. ETP expects Rover to be in full service in the second quarter of this year.
The pipeline is already operational and capable of transporting up to 1.7 Bcf/d of natural gas from Marion Township in Noble County, Ohio, to Tiffin Township in Defiance, Ohio. When completed, the 713-mile system will transport 3.25 Bcf/d of natural gas from the Marcellus and Utica shale production areas to markets across the United States and to the Union Gas Dawn Storage Hub in Ontario, Canada.
