FERC OK's New Atlantic Sunrise Operations
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) authorized Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company (Transco) to start additional Atlantic Sunrise Pipeline operations that add 150,000 MMcf/d of incremental capacity and enable bi-directional flow on Transco's existing system.
The latest FERC order authorizes Transco to commence operation of modified compressor stations in Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia. Last August, FERC approved partial service on brownfield sections of the project, adding 400,000 MMcf/d of incremental capacity on Transco's mainline from Lancaster County, Pa. to Choctaw County, Ala.
The $2.1 billion Atlantic Sunrise project includes approximately 183 miles of new greenfield pipe, two pipeline loops totaling about 12 miles, two and half miles of existing pipeline replacement, two new compressor facilities in Pennsylvania and other facility additions or modifications in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Atlantic Sunrise, which is scheduled for completion this summer, will add 1.7 MMcf/d of capacity to Transco's system to transport Marcellus gas to markets in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern states.
