Nigeria Blast did not Involve Nembe Creek Trunk Line
Lagos-based operator Aiteo said a fire late last week in the Nembe area of southern Nigerian did not involve the Nembe Creek Trunk Line (NCTL) or any other pipelines, correcting earlier reports.
Also on Monday, Nembe Chiefs Council spokesman, Nengi James-Eriworio, who originally blamed the fire on an Aiteo pipeline carrying Bonny Light oil to an export terminal, said all of the more than 50 people reported missing have been accounted for.
Aiteo's statement said the fire was near a well head and had "completely died down" by early Saturday.
The statement says that "all the wells and facilities in the immediate vicinity have been inspected and secured," adding that prior to last week's incident, "all facilities have been shut down since 28 of February 2019 due to NCTL outage." said Lagos-based Aiteo.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. – P&GJ staff and wire reports
