Nicor Gas Completes Meter Modernization Deployment Using Xylem’s Sensus Technology
(P&GJ) – Nicor Gas, Illinois’s largest natural gas distribution company, has completed its meter modernization deployment with Sensus, a Xylem brand.
The utility’s modernization journey began in 2018 with the installation of the two-way Sensus FlexNet communication network and SmartPoints. The purpose? To automate the meter reading process and provide more timely and accurate data to its customers about their energy use.
Nicor Gas integrated the technology without interrupting the day-to-day life of its 2.3 million customers – no easy task. The company’s Meter Modernization program is one of several investments Nicor Gas is making to improve customer communication and experience, and the reliability of meter reading and billing, ensuring every customer's energy needs are met safely and reliably now and well into the future. The Xylem sales team traveled to Naperville, Illinois recently to recognize Nicor Gas’s deployment efforts.
