GreenGasUSA and Darling Ingredients Partner to Produce Renewable Natural Gas
(P&GJ) — GreenGasUSA and Darling Ingredients Inc. have joined forces in a groundbreaking partnership aimed at producing renewable natural gas (RNG) and capturing CO2 emissions from wastewater streams at Darling’s U.S. facilities.
The collaboration, which marks a significant step towards sustainability, is poised to yield substantial reductions in greenhouse gas emissions through the implementation of gas upgrading and CO2 capture systems, while also generating valuable co-products.
GreenGasUSA, renowned for its expertise in RNG production from environmental and industrial waste streams, aligns perfectly with Darling Ingredients' commitment to sustainability. The collaboration underscores their shared goal of driving innovation in waste repurposing and delivering tangible environmental benefits, including GHG reductions.
“We are excited to announce this landmark agreement with Darling Ingredients,” said CEO and founder of GreenGasUSA Marc Fetten. “It is our mission at GreenGas to help businesses reduce their environmental impact by providing solutions that generate economic benefits. Darling Ingredients has been at the forefront of the effort to repurpose waste and integrate circularity into industrial operations and GreenGas is proud to support this mandate by partnering to convert agricultural and food waste into a valuable renewable energy product.”
The collaboration has garnered praise from Hugh Weathers, South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture, who lauded the agricultural sector's pivotal role in advancing the clean energy economy. He commended GreenGasUSA's efforts in producing renewable products from agricultural waste streams and reducing carbon emissions, particularly highlighting the significance of their CO2 capture technology in promoting circularity and providing essential raw materials for producers.
