INGAA Foundation Releases Environmental Inspector Best Practices Guide
(P&GJ) — The INGAA Foundation has released the Practical Guide for Environmental Inspectors, a comprehensive resource aimed at improving environmental oversight during the construction of gas and liquid facilities and pipelines.
The 150-page guide offers best practices for Environmental Inspectors, emphasizing compliance with permitting requirements and landowner agreements while safeguarding sensitive environmental features near construction zones. It also serves as a foundational resource for new inspectors, supporting knowledge transfer within the industry.
“In creating this guideline, JIVA Consulting and the project committee developed an effective 150-page practical guide based on more than 3,000 pages of content related to construction in environmentally sensitive zones that can be adapted for a range of projects,” Mike Istre, INGAA foundation director of research & project management, said.
Environmental Inspectors play a key role in construction oversight, proactively identifying potential environmental challenges and collaborating with project teams to mitigate risks. The guide seeks to standardize best practices across the industry while complementing formal training and existing regulations.
“Recently, the INGAA Foundation has prioritized efforts to facilitate knowledge transfer of best practices, as evidenced in this practical guide,” Hebe Shaw, executive director of the INGAA Foundation, said. “The Practical Guide for Environmental Inspectors will help to ensure those best practices are streamlined across the industry and further highlights the natural gas pipeline industry’s commitment to continuous improvement in all that we do.”
The Practical Guide for Environmental Inspectors is publicly available on the INGAA Foundation’s website: Practical Guide for Environmental Inspectors.
