(P&GJ) — WhiteWater has announced it will proceed with constructing the Pelican Pipeline, a major natural gas line stretching 170 miles from Williams, Louisiana, to the Gillis Hub near Ragley, Louisiana.
The decision comes after the company secured long-term transportation agreements with shippers, reaching a final investment decision (FID) on the project.
The Pelican Pipeline will transport up to 1.75 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of natural gas. The line will source gas from several upstream connections in the Haynesville Basin, including direct links to local processing facilities.
"The project should help resolve takeaway issues in the Permian in a couple of years and reduce the risk of negative pricing," said Michael Reed, editor-in-chief of P&GJ.
Expected to be operational in the first half of 2027, the pipeline project is currently pending necessary regulatory approvals. WhiteWater, based in Austin, Texas, is collaborating with FIC, Stonepeak, and Trace Capital Management to bring the Pelican Pipeline to completion.
