Hungary's MOL Reaches Deals for Oil Transport Via Druzhba Pipeline
(Reuters) — Hungary's MOL said on Monday it had reached deals with suppliers and pipeline operators for the continuous transportation of crude oil through Belarus and Ukraine via the Druzhba pipeline.
Kyiv banned Lukoil supplies in June after putting the Russian group on a sanctions list, preventing the transport of its oil to MOL refineries in Hungary and Slovakia.
That angered Hungary and Slovakia, whose governments said it was a threat to security of supply and risked fuel shortages.
The updated transportation agreements and the new takeover arrangements, effective from Monday, comply with "all relevant sanctions and provisions, including those of the EU and Ukraine," MOL said in a statement.
Under the agreements, MOL said it would take ownership of the affected crude oil volumes at the Belarus-Ukraine border.
