Oman Signs 10-Year LNG Supply Deal with Switzerland’s Mercuria
(P&GJ) — Oman LNG has entered into a ten-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement with Mercuria Energy Group, a Swiss-based energy and commodities trading firm, according to Muscat Daily.
Under the deal, Oman LNG will deliver 800,000 metric tonnes of LNG annually, with shipments set to commence in April, according to the Oman News Agency.
The agreement reflects Oman LNG’s strategic efforts to expand its global footprint and ensure a steady supply of liquefied natural gas to international markets.
Hamed bin Mohammed al Naamany, CEO of Oman LNG, told Muscat Daily that the collaboration strengthens the company’s presence in the global energy landscape while reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and energy security.
Mercuria, a major player in energy trading, deals in a variety of commodities, including natural gas, crude oil, refined products, and bioenergy. CEO Marco Dunand noted that this partnership supports Mercuria’s objective of broadening its LNG portfolio to address increasing global demand.
This latest supply contract underscores the growing role of LNG in meeting international energy needs while enhancing Oman’s position as a key supplier in the sector.
