Coastal Bend LNG Plans 22.5 MTPA Export Terminal on Texas Coast
(P&GJ) — Coastal Bend LNG has launched development plans for a 22.5 million ton per annum (MTPA) liquefied natural gas export facility along the Texas Gulf Coast.
The proposed terminal will feature up to five 4.5 MTPA liquefaction trains, cogeneration units, LNG storage, and export infrastructure to support shipping, bunkering, and ISO container transport. The facility will also include carbon capture, transport, and storage capabilities aimed at reducing the carbon intensity of U.S.-sourced LNG.
“We are responding to growing global demand for low carbon intensity LNG,” said Nick Flores, CEO of Coastal Bend LNG. “The integration of carbon capture on both our liquefaction and cogeneration facilities will deliver low carbon intensity LNG while monetizing both 45Q tax credits and our low-carbon products.”
The company said it plans to begin the pre-filing process for Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) permits in 2025.
