8 Rivers, Wood Advance Wyoming Carbon Capture Project
(P&GJ) — 8 Rivers Capital has selected Wood to conduct preliminary engineering for a proposed carbon capture project in Wyoming, developed in partnership with PacifiCorp.
The agreement covers preliminary front-end engineering and design (Pre-FEED) work, expected to conclude by Q3 2025. The project, located at a PacifiCorp brownfield power plant, will use 8 Rivers' Allam-Fetvedt Cycle (AFC) technology, a system designed to generate power while capturing carbon emissions.
8 Rivers has been working with Siemens Energy to develop direct-fired supercritical CO₂ turbines, which will be used in the project. Siemens will continue supporting the project through Pre-FEED and later design stages.

Wood, a global engineering and consulting firm, was selected based on its experience with gasification and energy projects.
“We are excited for the opportunity to be involved in this first-of-a-kind power generation facility with 8 Rivers and Siemens Energy,” said Frank Kalany, Wood’s Vice President of Thermal Power. “Given our rich history with power generation and energy projects, this aligns well with our capabilities and experience.”
The project aims to improve existing power infrastructure in Wyoming while creating economic and workforce opportunities. If successful, it could provide a model for next-generation carbon capture technology in the power sector.
