Sixth Street Adds California Gas Storage Facility with Caliche Acquisition
(P&GJ) — Sixth Street has completed its acquisition of Central Valley Gas Storage (CVGS) in Princeton, California, through its portfolio company Caliche Development Partners, the firm announced. The deal follows Sixth Street’s October 2024 acquisition of Caliche and its Golden Triangle Storage (GTS) facility in Beaumont, Texas.
Both facilities will continue to be operated by Houston-based Caliche, which focuses on underground storage of natural gas, industrial gases such as hydrogen and helium, and carbon sequestration.
“Caliche is excited to continue its role as a safe, high-quality operator of the CVGS facility in Northern California,” said CEO Dave Marchese. “Since entering the market, we've hired 10 employees and met deliverability needs for the region's heating, power and industrial loads at the most critical of times.”
Marchese added that the company plans to maintain its focus on safety and low-cost operations while exploring expansion opportunities with backing from Sixth Street.
Caliche’s assets now include the Golden Triangle Storage and Caliche CO₂ Sequestration sites in Jefferson County, Texas, and CVGS in Colusa County, California.
