British Columbia Prohibits Oil Or Bitumen Transport Through LNG Pipelines

British Columbia has adopted a regulation to ensure pipelines built to support LNG facilities will not be permitted to transport oil or diluted bitumen. This follows concerns expressed in environmental assessments and by First Nations about the long-term pipeline use.

Energy Forecast Predicts Rising Gas, Oil Demand As Global Middle Class Grows

ExxonMobil’s 2015 energy forecast posits natural gas as the fuel with the most demand growth between now and 2040, overtaking coal as the second most popular energy source with a 65% gain vs. its 2010 levels. Venture Global LNG has announced plans to develop an LNG export facility, the Calcasieu Pass Project, in southwestern Louisiana. The project, south of Lake Charles, will be built, operated and manufactured in Louisiana and will create 1,500 construction jobs, 326 indirect jobs and 100 permanent jobs for the community.

ExxonMobil Executives Discuss Challenges, Achievements Of PNG LNG Project

Construction of ExxonMobil’s PNG LNG Project in Papua New Guinea began in 2010 and delivered its first cargo of LNG in May 2014, ahead of schedule. The project took over 200 million work hours to complete and employed 21,000 people at its peak. There are 700 km of pipelines connecting the LNG facilities, which include a gas conditioning plant in Hides and liquefaction and storage facilities near Port Moresby with a capacity of 6.9 million tons per year.

Eagle LNG Pre-Filing Request Approved

Eagle LNG Partners’ pre-filing review process for the Jacksonville LNG project was approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The proposed LNG facility will serve domestic and international markets. Eagle LNG will receive and liquefy natural gas, temporarily storing the produced LNG and periodically loading it onto ocean-going vessels for use in marine fueling trade.

Excelerate Energy Named Midstream Partner For FLNG Project Off Equatorial Guinea

Changes At Federal Pipeline Regulatory Agencies

Meanwhile, the White House nominated Colette Honorable as a commissioner at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). When confirmed, which is likely, she would probably be appointed chairman. First LNG Cargo From Papua New Guinea Bound For Japan

The first shipment of LNG from ExxonMobil PNG Limited’s US$19 billion PNG LNG project recently left Papua New Guinea carrying a cargo bound for Tokyo Electric Power Co. Inc. (TEPCO), in Japan. Production from the first train began in April and production from the second train has begun as more wells came online.
