Houston Pipeliners Hear Update On Rockies Express Project
Members and guests of the Pipeliners Association of Houston heard an update on the construction of the major 1,679-mile Rockies Express gas pipeline project that extends from Colorado to eastern Ohio at the May 11, 2009, meeting held at the Houston Engineering and Scientific Society. The audience, numbering about 190, also heard from club officers, led by President John Dunn, that the association’s annual college scholarships to be awarded during the June 2009 meeting will be what is understood to be a record, or near record, amount of $224,855.
The Rockies Express (REX) pipeline project update was presented by a contingent of executives from Kinder Morgan, including the presenter, Allen Fore, director of community relations for Kinder Morgan. He was joined during the question and answer segment by Jordan Hunter, vice president of project management-major expansion, and Alice Weekley, vice president of project management-major expansion.
REX is divided into three segments–REX-Entrega, which extends 328-miles from Rio Blanco County, CO, to Weld County, CO; REX-West, 713-miles from Weld County, CO to Audrain, County, MO; and REX-East, 638 miles from Audrain County, MO to Monroe County, OH. Entrega is completed. West is in service and East is under construction with an expected in-service date of Nov. 2009.
The next meeting of the Pipeliners Association of Houston will by Monday, June 1, at 5:30 p.m. It will be the final meeting of the 2008-2009 club year. On the agenda for the meeting will be the awarding of scholarship checks averaging $4,500 to college students sponsored by club members. Another item on the agenda will be the election of officers for the 2009-2010 year. Membership year runs from July 1 to June 30. The club meets at the Houston Engineering and Scientific Society Building, 5430 Westheimer, Houston.
