Gas Pipeline Plans Hit Snag In Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania’s public utility regulators were advised to reject an effort by a Houston natural gas pipeline firm that could help it secure the power of eminent domain on private property.
An administrative law judge recommended denial of an application by Laser Northeast Gathering Co.
The state Public Utility Commission makes the final decision. Laser Northeast is seeking status as a public utility before it builds a gas gathering and transportation pipeline in Susquehanna County where heavy Marcellus Shale exploration is under way. If regulated as a utility, Laser Northeast could try to take private property to build its pipeline.
