MECI picked to provide gas metering system

MECI has been chosen by Samsung Heavy Industries to supply a fiscal export gas-metering system that can withstand high operating pressure and high carbon content over the course of a 40-year field life.

The equipment is for the ICHTHYS Central Processing Facility (CPF), which will be operated by INPEX in offshore Western Australia.

MECI was successful in demonstrating the required level of 0.7% overall uncertainty for mass computation could be obtained by using its gas analysis system. Adding to the challenges of providing the equipment was the overall footprint and weight constraints of the platform.

To meet the requirement of redundancy, MECI offered its metering system CDN16, based on one pair of new multi-stream flow computers in redundant configuration, with a software application dedicated to the needs of the offshore site and able to manage the following equipment:

• Four-meter runs equipped with twin ultrasonic flow meters – 12-inch FLOWSIC 600 Quatro (two measuring elements in the same body), which reduced the size of the station by the needed limiting piping and valves

• “Pay and check” instrumentation on each meter run, providing dual pressure and dual temperature transmitters, which ensures an availability of the station at more than 98%.

• Two major components analyzers (chromatographs) in “pay and check” configuration on the inlet header

The system provides for management of the offshore site via a website will allow programming of all data on the site, local maintenance, remote maintenance through Ethernet linking and cybersecurity abilities.
