What's New
What's New: June 2013
ValvTechnologies, Inc.
ValvTechnologies, Inc. has added bidirectional flow capabilities to its existing V1 valve product line, releasing a backpressure-resistant, metal-seated ball valve.
The new line feature prevents the load spring from collapsing, providing tight shutoff or zero leakage in the preferred direction after a reverse flow condition. During an upset condition, process flow can be unpredictable, and in most cases, the performance of the equipment that experienced the upset is jeopardized. With the ability to handle pressure in both directions, the company says the valve will remain reliable and low maintenance. info@valv.com, www.valv.com.
Equalizer International

Designed to safeguard against environmental ingress, the connector provides a leak-tight tube fitting connection between sections of single jacketed tubing, eliminating the need for sleeves and sealing tape. The design incorporates an O-ring seal and an environmental jacket seal nut, providing a leak-tight seal on the stainless steel core of the jacketed tubing and a water-tight seal on the outer diameter of the jacketed tubing. Operating temperature ranges from
-67 to 180° F and working pressures up to 5 100 psig (420 bar). www.swagelok.com.
CDI
The CD52 family of pig signallers allow for easy, clamp-on, non-intrusive pig passage detection to depths of 3000 meters (9850 ft) for the CD52-A30 or 4500 meters (14750 ft) for the CD52-A45. The company says “non-intrusive” means fewer problems with maintenance and corrosion and no possibilities of leaks. Simple isolation pads may be placed between the detector and the pipe to prevent galvanic corrosion. sales@pigging.com; www.pigging.com.

The radio features a 5 to 30 Watt transmitter with programmable power settings and is capable of continuous duty operation at a 15 Watt power output setting and 25°C ambient temperature. Available in the VHF, 220MHz, and UHF frequency bands, the new model features a broadband design allowing maximum use of the frequency band with a single radio. ritron@ritron.com, www.ritron.com.
Shurtape
High-performance masking tape is often used during the corrosion-coating process to keep specific pipe sections coating-free to allow for welding at the installation site. To do so, tape is hand-applied to pre-heated pipes – typically two to six inches on each pipe end – before entering the powder coater. Shurtape offers two high-performance masking tapes for masking corrosion-coated steel pipes: CP 800 is designed for pipes under 24 inches in diameter; CP 900 is designed for pipes greater than 24 inches in diameter. The tape is engineered to endure the extreme conditions found in the corrosion-coating process, including withstanding 450 F temperatures for one to two minutes. High-tack adhesive and easy, consistent unwind allow it to be applied quickly and evenly to the pipe, while the company says removal is clean and residue-free. www.shurtape.com.
