Axis Breaks Ground For Pipe, Tube Plant

Officials of Axis Pipe and Tube Inc., The Prolamsa Group and state and local officials participated in groundbreaking ceremonies in Bryan, TX for a pipe and tube facility. The company will invest more than $150 million in the plant.

The plant will produce more than 300,000 tons a year of energy-related tubular products and begin production by mid-2014, employing more than 285 people at full capacity. The 183-acre site will produce electric resistance welded (ERW) pipe in diameters up to 16 inches with wall thicknesses up to 0.625 inch.

The plant will be fully integrated with a slitting line, mill, finishing floor and heat treatment facilities, and will have the capability to produce a wide range of API grades. The facility will operate as Axis Pipe and Tube Inc., a division of The Prolamsa Group.
