Myanmar-China Pipeline Starts Delivering Gas To China

On July 29, the Myanmar-China natural gas pipeline was inaugurated in northern Myanmar’s Mandalay and began deliveries to China.

Myanmar Vice President U Nyan Tun said at the commissioning ceremony that operation of the gas pipeline and its distribution system would improve Myanmar’s economy by boosting energy supplies and fueling industrialization. He especially expressed his appreciation to the project company for its outstanding works in environmental protection and care to local communities during pipeline construction.

The Myanmar-China Gas Pipeline runs 493 miles from Kyaukphyu, in Rakhine State to Ruili in Yunnan Province, China, with a diameter of 40 inches and annual delivery capacity of 12 Bcm.
