What's New
What's New: August 2014
New products and services from Smith Flow Control, Shurtape, Caterpillar, Tritex NDT, STATS, Pergam, Hyundai, Emerson Process, WFMS and more.
Smith Flow Control
Smith Flow Control’s EasiDrive portable valve actuator is specially designed for use with valves requiring a large number of turns or which are otherwise difficult to operate because of high torque or harsh climate conditions. One person can efficiently drive multiple valves with a single tool. The product requires no permanent power supply and is suitable for all climactic conditions. www.smithflowcontrol.com.
Shurtape
Shurtape has introduced the CP 901, a high-performance masking tape designed for the oil and natural gas pipe coating industry. The tape combines a rubber-based adhesive system and a durable crepe backing to mask pipe ends prior to coating under extreme temperatures. It is designed to easily unwind from the roll. The tape’s splice-free feature also means there is less worry about tape breakage, and its quick-stick performance offers strong adhesion for high-speed production processes. Its backing resists charring up to 450-460 degrees F for short time durations (1-2 minutes) while moving through the coating booth. Engineered to produce consistent, sharp coating lines, the tape’s special release system also ensures it adheres well to itself to prevent coating damage due to loose tape ends. When the job is done, it removes cleanly to leave pipe ends residue-free. www.shurtape.com.
Caterpillar
The Caterpillar CG137-8 natural gas generator provides 282 ekW (352 kVA), 60 Hz at1800 rpm of rated power, offering customers an additional power node to complement existing power solutions in land production applications. www.catoilandgasinfo.com.
Tritex NDT
Tritex NDT have launched their new Multigauge 5700 Datalogger Metal Thickness Gauge, which improves on previous offerings by storing readings on the gauge. It includes an onboard memory for recording measurements in either a grid or string format, or combination of both. The readings are then transferred to a PC or laptop using wireless technology, which also allows remote gauging if required. The versatile software includes simple wizards which guide the user in setting up templates or files for various applications. The gauge utilises the Multiple Echo technique to ignore coatings up to 6mm thick and just measures the metal substrate. No grinding or removal of the coatings is required. www.tritexndt.com.
STATS
STATS BI-STOP, a patent-pending system for isolating small bore gas distribution lines, provides a re-useable tooling system to address challenges with isolating small bore, low pressure gas distribution pipelines. The tools enables the pipework to be isolated, cut, and terminated while the system remains live, thereby allowing for meter replacements and other upgrades when an isolation is not readily available. The hand-operated system is simple to use and addresses destruction and construction requirements, including proof testing, providing a cost effective means of installing or replacing meters, valves and upgrading systems from steel to poly pipe without the need for a shutdown. www.statsgroup.com.
Pergam Technical Services
A new generation of the SELMA (Street Evaluating Laser Methane Assessment) vehicle based gas detection system has been launched. Two lasers allow a user to trace the smallest amounts of methane gas on the sidewalk with a roof laser or in the street with the highly sensitive bumper laser. The new generation has user friendly software as well as a more robust bumper unit design that fits on a wide range of vehicles. www.pergamusa.com/SELMA.
CoreLogic
CoreLogic has introduced a new land records management solution providing a single source of location information and property characteristics data for the oil and gas, utilities and telecommunications industries. SpatialRecord integrates parcel-level spatial data with the company’s property-level database to provide expanded data analysis and more granular information. The patented technology converts raw data into information that can be leveraged in exploration, planning, serviceability and compliance process decisions. The software appends and normalizes location information and property characteristic data such as the actual and effective dates a structure was built, property valuation, tax information, property area, mailing addresses and names of owners. www.corelogic.com.
Hyundai
Hyundai has announced three new wheeled excavator models, the R140W-9A, R180W-9A and the R210W-9A, in its 9A series product line. These mid-size excavators will provide operators with a certified Tier 4 Interim engine upgrade, improved hydraulics, increased operator comfort and added durability. Operating weights are between 30,200 lbs and 45,200 lbs and maximum dig depth ranges from nearly 16 feet to nearly 20 feet. The machines have electronically controlled fuel injection and diagnostic capabilities, a variable speed fan clutch, a two-stage auto decel system and an economy mode to help conserve fuel and reduce environmental impact. www.hceamericas.com.
Emerson Process Management
The Rosemount Analytical GDU-Incus ultrasonic gas leak detector from Emerson Process Management has obtained DNV type approval for use in marine applications. The leak detection system uses four sensitive acoustic sensors that constantly monitor wide areas for ultrasound generated from the release of pressurized gas. Suited for monitoring ventilated outdoor applications and engineered to withstand extreme conditions, the technology does not require calibration or replacement for the life of the instrument. Performance is unaffected by inclement weather, wind direction, leak direction or any potential gas dilution, with an instantaneous response to methane, hydrogen and other low molecular weight gases. An integrated self-test ensures failsafe operation, and innovative sensors with no moving parts mitigate the need for maintenance. www.EmersonProcess.com.
WFMS, Inc.
The patented SCS Prover is designed to improve performance and accuracy in liquid meters with a straight calibrated section to allow the sphere to move smoothly through the calibrated section without disrupting the flow. Precise fabrication is used to keep costs down and make the prover easy to service. www.wfmsinc.com.
