TGP Seeks FERC Approval to Upgrade NED Capacity

Tennessee Gas Pipeline, a Kinder Morgan company, filed with FERC to increase capacity of the proposed Northeast Energy Direct (NED) project to 1.2 Bcf/d, an increase from 1 Bcf/d as submitted in earlier documents. TGP plans several route modifications on both the mainline and delivery laterals.

The anticipated in-service date for the NED project remains Nov. 1, 2018.

The Supply Path of the project originates in the dry gas heart of the Marcellus Shale along TGP’s existing 300 Line in northeast Pennsylvania and extends to Wright, NY and is scalable up to 1.2 Bcf/d. The Market Path originates at Wright and extends to Dracut, MA and points beyond, utilizing the market reach of TGP’s legacy system and is scalable up to 1.3 Bcf/d.

As configured, NED project facilities are composed of the following:

NED Supply

  • 41 miles of 36-inch pipeline looping along TGP’s existing 300 Line in northeast Pennsylvania
  • 132 miles of 30-inch pipeline from TGP’s existing 300 Line around Troy, PA to Wright, NY
  • Compression facilities sufficient to meet the needs of contracted services
  • NED Market

  • 188 miles of 30-inch pipeline from Wright, NY to Dracut, MA
  • Identified lateral facilities in Massachusetts and Connecticut
  • Compression facilities sufficient to meet the needs of contracted services
