Consortium to Develop Green H2, Ammonia Project in Malaysia
Samsung Engineering signed an MOU to develop a green hydrogen and ammonia project with Lotte Chemical, POSCO and SEDC Energy SDN.
The H2Biscus Project will be located in Bintulu, Sarawak State, Malaysia. The project is designed to convert hydropower and natural gas to green hydrogen/methanol and blue hydrogen and for the conversion of hydrogen to ammonia, for shipment to Korea and Sarawak.
Based on the results of the pre-feasibility study conducted in 2021, the project is expected to produce 7,000 tons per year of green hydrogen for Sarawak’s local use, 600,000 tons per year of blue ammonia, 630,000 tons per year of green ammonia and 460,000 tons per year of green methanol.
“The project will serve as an exemplary project of international standing for renewable energy trading and hydrogen transportation between Korea and Malaysia, establishing hydrogen-related standards for the two countries,” said Sungan Choi, president and CEO of Samsung Engineering.
Green Hydrogen Systems Signs Supply Agreement
Green Hydrogen Systems has signed a supply agreement with Edinburgh-based Logan Energy to deliver electrolysis equipment for a project in England.
The order includes the supply of two GHS HyProvide A90 electrolyzers with a combined capacity of 0.9 MW for the production of green hydrogen from renewable energy.
Manufactured by Green Hydrogen Systems and operated by Logan Energy, the electrolyzers will be deployed in a 40-foot container as a complete green hydrogen plant as part of plans to develop a regional hydrogen economy in Dorset, England.
“Valuable manufacturing partnerships will be vital to delivering the widespread hydrogen infrastructure sorely needed across the UK at pace,” said Bill Ireland, CEO of Logan Energy.
When fully operational during the fourth quarter, the electrolyzers will have the capacity to provide about 389 kilograms of green hydrogen per day.
Linde Wins Long-Term Contract with BASF
Linde signed a long-term agreement with BASF, one of the world’s largest chemical companies, for the supply of hydrogen and steam.
Linde will design, build, own and operate a new hydrogen production facility at Chalamp, The plant will supply BASF’s new hexamethylenediamine (HMD) manufacturing facility, which is expected to operational in early 2024.
Linde already operates the world’s first high-purity hydrogen storage cavern and has pipeline networks totaling 1,000 kilometers worldwide.
