Line Fill for Grand Mesa Pipeline Begins; Commercial Operations Set for Nov. 1
NGL Energy Partners’ Grand Mesa pipeline began line fill for its newly constructed crude oil pipeline system from Weld County, CO to Cushing, OK, with commercial service expected to start on schedule Nov. 1. Construction of the $18 million Lucerne and Riverside origin stations in Colorado and the connection to the mainline pipeline is complete.
The Grand Mesa system includes joint ownership of a new 20-inch pipe with Saddlehorn Pipeline Company. The initial capacity of the pipeline is 340,000 bpd, of which Grand Mesa owns 150,000 bpd. The Saddlehorn portion of the pipeline became operational in August. NGL wholly owns the pipeline from its origin points into the mainline, multiple truck injection bays, over 1 MMbbls of operational storage, and two collection points located near Lucerne and Kersey (Riverside Station) in Weld County, CO. Grand Mesa delivers crude oil to the destination point at NGL’s 4.6 MMbbl storage terminal in Cushing, OK.
