TransCanada Requests U.S. Regulators Pause Pipeline Review

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The company behind the proposed Keystone XL pipeline has asked the U.S. State Department to pause its review of another pipeline that would carry oil from northwest North Dakota into Canada.
The Bismarck Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2s1ZIwf ) that TransCanada Corp.’s Upland Pipeline would originate about 15 miles southwest of Williston and transport up to 300,000 barrels of crude per day north of the border.
Spokesman Matthew John says the company wants to pause the U.S. review to better align the timing with TransCanada’s proposed Energy East Pipeline System, which is related to the Upland Pipeline and under review by Canadian regulators.
The Upland Pipeline also needs approval of North Dakota regulators.
