China to Get Gas from Power of Siberia Pipeline in 2019
Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Wang Yilin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CNPC, have signed a Supplementary Agreement for Russian gas to be delivered to China via the eastern route of the Power of Siberia Pipeline, effective December 2019. The Supplementary Agreement is an extension of the original Sales and Purchase Agreement, which was signed on May 21, 2014.
“The signing of this document is a crucial step in the implementation of the project, a step achieved by Gazprom and CNPC thanks to clear and concerted action on both sides of the border,” said Miller. “Our work is strictly on schedule, even ahead of schedule regarding Power of Siberia. Russian gas supplies to China will come right on time.”
Once finished, the approximately 1864-mile Power of Siberia Pipeline will deliver natural gas from the Chayanda oil and gas condensate deposit in Yakutia and the Kovykta gas condensate field in the Irkutsk Region of Eastern Siberia for export to China.
