Tamboran, APA Group to Develop 23-Mile Sturt Plateau Pipeline in Australia
(P&GJ) — Tamboran Resources Corporation and Daly Waters Energy LP (DWE) have entered binding agreements with APA Group to build, own, and operate the 12-inch Sturt Plateau Pipeline (SPP) for the proposed Shenandoah South Pilot Project in Australia’s Northern Territory.
The 23-mile (37-kilometer) pipeline will connect the planned Sturt Plateau Compression Facility to APA’s existing Amadeus Gas Pipeline, serving as the delivery point for gas volumes under a long-term gas sales agreement (GSA) with the Northern Territory Government.
Under the agreement, Tamboran and DWE have secured all foundation capacity on the SPP through at least 2041, aligning with the term of the GSA. The companies also retain competitive access and pricing rights for additional capacity after the initial period.
APA Group has advanced project designs and approval applications and expects to place orders for long-lead components before the end of 2024. Construction is slated for the second half of 2025, with operations beginning in the first half of 2026 to align with gas production from the Shenandoah South Pilot Project.
Joel Riddle, managing director and CEO of Tamboran Resources, said:
“We continue to secure key agreements necessary to commence gas production from our proposed Shenandoah South Pilot Project in the first half of 2026. Gas volumes from the project will be supplied to the Northern Territory Government, facilitated by the APA-operated SPP.
“With natural gas serving as the largest source of electricity generation in the Northern Territory, Tamboran is proud to play a leading role in ensuring a reliable energy supply for Territorians. In delivering this, we are committed to following the highest environmental standards and working with Native Title Holders.”
Tamboran emphasized APA Group’s regional expertise, including ownership of the Amadeus Gas Pipeline linking Alice Springs to Darwin.
