Corinth Pipeworks to Provide Steel Pipes for Woodside Energy's Trion Offshore Development

(P&GJ) — Corinth Pipeworks has been awarded a significant contract by Woodside Energy, the operator of the Trion deepwater field, to manufacture and supply approximately 118 kilometers (73 miles) of High Frequency Welded (HFW) steel pipes.

Located in the Perdido Fold Belt within Mexican waters of the Gulf of Mexico, the Trion field is positioned as a pioneering greenfield development. It marks Mexico's debut in deepwater production, with potential for future expansions tied to its facilities. Woodside Petróleo Operaciones de México and Pemex Exploración y Producción jointly manage Trion, with Woodside holding a 60% stake as operator.

The project entails a subsea wet tree system linked to an infield floating production unit (FPU), connected further to a floating storage and offloading (FSO) unit, streamlining resource extraction and processing efficiency.

Corinth Pipeworks' selection for this contract highlights its growing offshore footprint in the Gulf of Mexico, as industry stakeholders recognize the value of its welded pipe technology for critical offshore applications.

The pipes will be manufactured at Corinth Pipeworks' advanced facilities, where external coating and concrete weight coating (CWC) will also be applied, ensuring rigorous quality control and production efficiency.

"We are honored to partner with Woodside Energy on the Trion offshore project," stated Ilias Bekiros, General Manager at Corinth Pipeworks. "This contract underscores our commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that meet the exacting standards of deepwater energy projects. We look forward to contributing to this groundbreaking endeavor."
