MT Group Secures Ørsted Contract for CO2 Capture Facility in Denmark
(P&GJ) — MT Group, a European energy and infrastructure contractor, has signed a deal with Danish energy company Ørsted to engineer and build a carbon capture facility in Denmark. The project will focus on piping and equipment for the Balance of Plant (BoP) systems at Ørsted’s Kalundborg CO2 Hub.
The facility aims to capture 430,000 tons of CO2 annually from two power stations, with the captured emissions transported to Norway for storage at Northern Lights. MT Group will integrate the new CO2 capture system with existing infrastructure at Asnæsværket and handle procurement, installation, and testing to ensure regulatory compliance.
MT Group’s CEO, Mindaugas Zakaras, said the contract strengthens their renewable energy portfolio and underscores their role in sustainable engineering solutions. The company has a background in natural gas and LNG projects but is expanding into green energy, including hydrogen and carbon capture.
