Natural Gas Council Urges Trump to Advance Permitting, Energy Infrastructure
(P&GJ) — The Natural Gas Council (NGC) has outlined a five-point plan for restoring American energy dominance in a letter sent to President Donald J. Trump, voicing support for the administration’s pro-energy agenda and urging reforms that would accelerate U.S. natural gas growth.
The NGC, which represents the full natural gas value chain from production to delivery, stated its members are ready to work with the Trump administration to expand infrastructure and supply.
“On behalf of the individuals who produce, transport, and deliver natural gas to customers and communities across the nation, the Natural Gas Council (NGC) wrote to President Trump in support of his goal of restoring American energy dominance, and identified the following five actions the administration can take to achieve our shared goals:
- Recommend to Congress meaningful statutory reforms of the federal permitting process.
- Revise unduly burdensome environmental regulations.
- Restore consistency and certainty to accessing federal land.
- Establish tax reforms that encourage investing in American energy infrastructure and jobs.
- Support prompt passage of pipeline safety reauthorization legislation.”
According to the council, these actions would help scale up natural gas production and streamline delivery to homes and businesses across the U.S., while preserving reliability and affordability.
“These actions will make it possible to increase production of natural gas and advance the infrastructure required to transport it from production wells to the homes and businesses that use it while maintaining affordability and reliability. Our organizations are excited to work with this administration to reach our shared energy dominance goals and continue serving more than 189 million Americans and 5.8 million businesses that use natural gas every day.”
The council’s proposals target longstanding industry priorities, including permitting delays, environmental rule revisions, and regulatory certainty for operations on federal land. The letter emphasizes that natural gas continues to play a central role in U.S. energy security and economic competitiveness.
