(P&GJ) — TC Energy Corp. has reached mechanical completion on its Southeast Gateway pipeline project, keeping the company on track for an anticipated May 1, 2025, in-service date.
The project, a key infrastructure development for Mexico’s natural gas market, achieved mechanical completion on January 20, 2025, with final golden welds at Coatzacoalcos and Paraíso. The estimated final cost is approximately $3.9 billion, at the low end of TC Energy’s prior guidance and 13% below the original cost estimate.

“We remain aligned with the CFE on finalizing the remaining project completion activities,” said TC Energy President and CEO François Poirier. “This pipeline will provide Southeast Mexico with access to safe, reliable, and affordable energy, marking a material inflection point for our company.”
The Southeast Gateway pipeline is TC Energy’s first public-private partnership with Mexico’s Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE). Once operational, it is expected to play a critical role in enhancing energy security and supply reliability in the region.
TC Energy continues to advance final project completion activities ahead of the scheduled in-service date.
