EIA Says Northeast Refinery Closures Could Lead To Fuel Price Spikes
Recently announced plans to idle more than half of the regional refining capacity in the Northeast are likely to affect supplies of petroleum products in the region, with significant short-term impacts on supplies of ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel and gasoline, according to the Energy Information Administration. The likely result will be to increase the region’s dependency on Gulf Coast supply.
