Med-Red Begins Shipments Through EAPC Pipeline Network
Special to P&GJ Med-Red Land Bridge Company (MRLB) signed its first contract for a vessel to use the recently recommissioned 150-mile (242-km) pipeline owned by Europe Asia Pipeline Company (EAPC). The vessel was loaded with 130,000 metric tons (mt) of crude oil. The vessel offloaded its crude in Ashkelon port for shipment to the port of Eilat, both in Israel, where it was loaded onto a very large crude carrier (VLCC) heading to the Far East. The EAPC pipeline network provides an alternative route to transport crude oil and products, and it has the capacity to transport 1.2 MMbpd of crude.
