Energy Lawyer Marvin T. Griff Joins Thompson Hine’s Corporate Practice
Thompson Hine LLP today announced that Husch Blackwell’s Marvin T. Griff has joined the firm’s Corporate Transactions & Securities practice in Washington, D.C., as a partner.
Throughout his career, Griff has counseled electric utilities, clean technology companies, alternative energy developers, interstate and intrastate natural gas and oil pipeline companies, local distribution companies, large end-users and energy marketers on complex transactions. He has also served as regulatory counsel on mergers, asset divestitures and acquisitions as well as in new infrastructure and rate proceedings.
Griff has represented a wide range of energy companies before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and other federal and state agencies and courts, including serving as counsel to a demand response petitioner that successfully appealed FERC’s Order 745 before the U.S. Supreme Court and as a member of the U.S. government-designated Gore-Chernomyrdin Committee, comprised of U.S. energy companies and energy executives responsible for advising the Russian government on restructuring and revising its tariff system. He has received an Outstanding Performance Award from FERC’s Office of the General Counsel and is an articles editor of Energy Law Journal.
Griff is the most recent partner to join the Thompson Hine’s Washington office. Earlier this year, the firm welcomed a Government Contracts practice from Cooley LLP led by Tom Mason and including Francis E. “Chip” Purcell Jr. and Ray McCann, while Mark Lunn joined the firm’s International Trade practice group from Dentons LLP.
“The interests of our clients across the business spectrum are often affected by energy-related issues,” said the firm’s Washington D.C. office partner-in-charge David A. Wilson. “Marvin’s experience will further strengthen our ability to address those issues.”
