INGAA President and Industry Veteran Don Santa Announces Retirement
After nearly two decades leading the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA), Don Santa announced today that he will retire from the organization effective February 15, 2020.
“Don’s experience in both the public and private sector served INGAA well for nearly two decades. Under his leadership, INGAA played a critical role in advancing the priorities of our industry and the board is committed to building on all of the success that Don helped us achieve,” said Stanley Chapman III, INGAA Chairman and EVP and President, US Natural Gas Pipelines for TC Energy. “We thank Don for his years of service to INGAA and our industry and for advancing U.S. energy policy.”
Since joining the organization 17 years ago, Santa has led INGAA and the industry through several periods of transition while building a team of best-in-class subject matter experts that advocate on behalf of member companies in Washington, DC. From multiple reauthorizations of the Pipeline Safety Act, to shaping regulatory policy affecting interstate natural gas pipelines, Santa has been a strong advocate for the industry for decades.
“It’s been an honor to represent the interstate natural gas pipeline industry during a time when the energy infrastructure constructed and operated by our member companies has done so much to ensure that Americans benefit from our nation’s energy abundance,” Santa said. “It’s been especially rewarding to lead the talented and dedicated INGAA staff. The strength of this team gives me great confidence that INGAA’s success as an advocate for this critical segment of our nation’s energy industry will continue.”
The INGAA board of directors appointed Alex Oehler, who leads TC Energy’s U.S. federal government relations team, as interim president while the board conducts a national search to fill the position on a permanent basis. Mr. Oehler has served in a variety of government and policy roles for over 20 years.
“This is an exciting time in our industry,” Chapman continued. “As INGAA embarks on its next chapter, we look forward to working with Alex to ensure that we remain focused on the issues that matter most to America’s interstate natural gas pipeline industry.”
