PureWest, Gunvor Partner to Deliver Verified Low-Carbon Gas

(P&GJ) — PureWest Energy, a Rocky Mountain-based natural gas producer with low emissions operations, is partnering with Gunvor USA to deliver verified low-carbon natural gas to end-users focused on reducing Scope 3 emissions.

Under the agreement, Gunvor will offtake environmental attributes tied to PureWest’s gas, which is measured and verified under ISO 14067 standards for product carbon footprint. These attributes may be sold bundled with physical gas or independently. The data is supported by CleanConnect’s ProveZero, a blockchain-backed emissions tracking system.

“PureWest produces natural gas with one of the lowest carbon intensities in North America and we remain committed to providing reliable, lower carbon energy options for end-users,” said Chris Valdez, PureWest CEO. “We're proud to partner with Gunvor to deliver independently verified, low-carbon natural gas solutions that help end-users meet their decarbonization goals.”

Gunvor plans to incorporate the certified gas into its supply portfolio to develop a blended product meeting international standards such as ISCC. The move aligns with rising demand from customers seeking lower-carbon energy options.

"Gunvor is committed to offering energy solutions that meet growing market decarbonization needs, especially as more of our customers are seeking new avenues to reach their emissions reductions goals," said Gary Pedersen, President and CEO of Gunvor USA LLC.

PureWest’s emissions tracking uses real-time, automated monitoring systems, providing more precise data than traditional leak detection methods. Both companies see the partnership as a step toward scalable, transparent decarbonization solutions across industrial sectors.
