Pacific Trail Project Wins Environmental Approval
Pacific Trail Pipelines Limited Partnership has announced a decision for its proposed Kitimat to Summit Lake Pipeline Looping Project (KSL Project) under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.
The federal agencies found that, with appropriate mitigation measures, the KSL Project is unlikely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. The decision marks the next major milestone in developing the KSL Project following receipt of the British Columbia, BC Environmental Assessment Authority environmental certificate last year. The KSL Project entails construction of 288 miles of 36-inch pipeline and compression facilities to enable PTP to transport up to 1 Bcf/d of natural gas from Summit Lake to Kitimat LNG Inc.’s proposed LNG export terminal to be located near Kitimat, BC. The KSL project and terminal, the first of its kind to be located on the west coast of Canada, are expected to start operations in 2013.
