John O. Hudson, III has been named president and CEO of Nicor Gas, replacing Melvin D. Williams, who retires Sept. 1 as both president and CEO of Nicor Gas and senior vice president of Southern Company after more than 30 years of service. Hudson previously served as executive vice president and chief external and public affairs officer at Southern Company Gas, overseeing External Affairs, Regulatory, Customer Operations, Corporate Communications, Marketing, Community Relations and Economic Development and Environmental Affairs. He will continue to serve as an executive vice president of Southern Company Gas, retain responsibility for the Corporate Market Strategy organization and serve as a member of the Southern Company Gas Management Council. Hudson formerly was senior vice president of Marketing and Business Development at Alabama Power, where he oversaw customer service centers and held positions including chief executive of the Alabama Power Foundation and vice president of Public Relations and Charitable Giving. He received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Alabama A&M University and is a cum laude graduate of Miles College School of Law.
Bracewell LLP announced that Catherine D. Little and Annie Cook have joined Bracewell’s Washington office as partners in the energy regulatory practice from the firm Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP, where they led a pipeline and liquefied natural gas (LNG) safety practice. At Bracewell, they will advise oil and gas pipeline infrastructure on regulatory compliance and enforcement defense, from construction to operation, including incident response and security. Little earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia and her Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Tulane University Law School. Cook received her Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Kenyon College and her Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from Emory School of Law.
At Alliant Energy, Barbara Tormaschy has been promoted to senior vice president of Sustainability and Regulatory Strategy, with oversight of the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) programs, Sustainability, Regulatory Strategy and Solutions teams, and Resource Development. Tormaschy joined the company in 2016 as vice president of Finance and has overseen the financial analysis, planning, investor relations and regulatory finance functions. She has a bachelor’s degree in quantitative business analysis from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from the University of Houston. Michael Luhrs joined the company as the senior vice president of Customer Experience and Strategy, with responsibility for the refinement and execution of the company’s customer experience strategy. He will also be responsible for leading the company’s corporate strategy, communications, community affairs, electrification, energy markets and customer solutions. Luhrs joins Alliant Energy after more than two decades with Duke Energy, most recently serving as vice president of integrated grid strategy and solutions. He earned bachelor’s degrees in chemical engineering and in business management and economics from North Carolina State University.
NiSource announced interim General Counsel Kim Cuccia has been appointed senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Prior to her interim role, she served as vice president and deputy general counsel, Legal Regulatory, for NiSource. Previously, she was general counsel for Columbia Gas of Massachusetts, where she was responsible for legal strategy and planning for the company and the business team established to respond to the state investigations into the 2018 Merrimack Valley Incident. Cuccia earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from The University of Florida and her law degree from Valparaiso University.
ONE Gas announced it has promoted Kent Shortridge to senior vice president of Operations and Customer Service, overseeing operations, gas supply and customer service for ONE Gas. Previously he served as managing vice president of Operations of ONE Gas. Prior to ONE Gas becoming a stand-alone, publicly traded company separated from ONEOK, he served as vice president of Operations for Oklahoma Natural Gas. He joined ONEOK in 1990 as a field engineer. He was vice president of Oklahoma Natural Gas Company’s Eastern Region, where he managed and oversaw operations. Prior to that, as president of natural gas pipelines of ONEOK Partners, he was responsible for interstate and intrastate natural gas pipelines and storage. He also has held the position of vice president of Natural Gas Supply and Administration of ONEOK’s natural gas distribution segment at the time – Oklahoma Natural, Kansas Gas Service and Texas Gas Service – and vice president, Commercial, of ONEOK Partners’ intrastate pipelines and storage assets.
Also at ONE Gas, Jim Jarrett was promoted to managing vice president of Field Operations, responsible for distribution and transmission field operations across ONE Gas. Previously, he served as vice president of Operations at Oklahoma Natural Gas Company and Texas Gas Service. He holds an MBA from Oklahoma City University. Chris Carr was promoted to vice president of Operations for Oklahoma Natural Gas, a division of ONE Gas.
