Yokogawa Wins Gas Storage Facilities Upgrade Contract In UK

Yokogawa Electric Corp. announced that its subsidiary, Yokogawa United Kingdom Ltd., won a multimillion-pound contract by SSE Hornsea Ltd. to upgrade one of the UK’s largest onshore underground gas storage facilities in Atwick, East Yorkshire.

Yokogawa United Kingdom will supply an integrated control and safety system, together with a metering solution. The order includes the supply and installation of an integrated production control system to control the gas compressors.

The Atwick facility comprises nine man-made salt cavities that have been leached into a salt layer 1.8 km underground, creating 325 MMcm of gas storage space.
