AVANGRID announced the appointment of Catherine S. Stempien to the role of president & CEO of Avangrid Networks, its largest business unit, which serves 3.3 million customers with electric and gas service through eight companies in Maine, Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts. She succeeds Anthony “Tony” Marone, who retired. Stempien joins the company from Duke Energy Florida, where she served as president. Previously, she held a variety of roles at Duke, including senior vice president of Corporate Development.  

Plains All American Pipeline promoted Jeremy Goebel to executive vice president and chief commercial officer. Goebel has more than 20 years of energy and investment banking experience, including eight years at Plains as managing director of Strategic Planning and Acquisitions; senior group vice president, Commercial; and most recently, executive vice president, Commercial. In his new role, he assumes full responsibility for commercial activities in the United States and Canada.

Specialist engineering company Nucore Group has appointed Phil Davie as chief operating officer. Davie, who brings more than 30 years of experience with tier one and service engineering companies, most recently served as senior vice president at Aker Solutions. In his new role at Aberdeen-based Nucore Group, he will be responsible for all operations. 

Baker Botts announced that Julie Mayo has joined the Energy Projects & Transactions Section of its Global Projects Department in Houston. Mayo joins the firm from Norton Rose Fulbright, where she was the leader of the U.S. oil and gas practice and a member of the partnership committee. She has a broad-based energy practice focused on joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and project development in the oil and gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), power and renewable sectors.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has appointed Marlene Santos as executive vice president and chief customer officer and Joseph Forline as senior vice president, Gas Operations. Before joining PG&E, Santos was president of Gulf Power Company, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy. She previously served as chief integration officer for NextEra’s acquisition of Gulf Power and two other companies and has held other senior roles including vice president, Customer Service for Florida Power & Light.

Forline will be responsible for the utility’s gas transmission and distribution operations with a focus on safety, compliance, customer service and operational efficiency. He joins PG&E after 35 years at Public Service Electric & Gas Company (PSE&G), New Jersey’s largest provider of electric and natural gas service, where he served most recently as vice president of Gas Operations, a position he had held since 2015.

Specialist pipeline technology company STATS Group has promoted two long-serving employees to senior executive positions. Steven Byers, who joined the Kintore, Scotland-based business in 2010, has been appointed chief operating officer, and Gary McDowall succeeds him as director of Operations for the STATS UK and Europe region. In his new role, Byers will be responsible for supporting STATS global

operations and projects teams and leading the group’s digitalization program. Since joining STATS as a project engineer and in subsequent management roles, Byers has worked on and led many high-pressure pipeline isolation projects for clients in the UKCS, Europe and the Caspian region. McDowall joined STATS in 2008 as a project engineer and has worked on numerous energy infrastructure contracts, including project managing the isolation of the Forties pipeline system in the North Sea. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading the safe delivery of all projects in the U.K. and Europe. 

Houston-based Max Midstream announced that Dan House has joined the company as global head of Trading. He previously served as head of U.S. Crude Trading and Mercuria Energy Trading, where was responsible for building and managing a North American crude supply and trading business. He was also responsible for integrating the U.S. supply and trading into the global market, working extensively with his team in Geneva, London, Beijing and Singapore.

Luschen “Lou” Gore has joined Takeuchi-US as business manager for the Mid-Atlantic Region, which includes South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Ohio. Gore will be responsible for all sales development and activity in that multistate region, including dealer recruitment and development, inventory control, collections, forecasting, program promotion and communication. Gore joins Takeuchi from TCF Inventory Finance, where he was assistant vice president of OEM Sales. He previously spent nearly a decade with Textron Corporation.

Takeuchi-US also named Ian Poole as its new inside sales representative, with responsibility for sales development and support for dealers and direct accounts, and for support to its regional business managers. 

Rumsey

Cummins announced that Jennifer Rumsey has been named president and chief operating officer, succeeding Tony Satterthwaite, who was named vice chairman of the Columbus, Ind.-based power solutions company. Rumsey joined Cummins in 2000 in controls and has held a variety of leadership roles over the course of her career, including positions in advanced engineering, product development and quality.

She has served as vice president of Engineering for the Engine Business, chief technical officer for Cummins and most recently as the company’s president of the Components business. Satterthwaite joined Cummins in 1988 in Product Planning and Sales and has held leadership positions across the company’s global businesses and operations. 

Management consultant Black and Veatch has expanded its Strategic Advisory Practice with the additions of Ralph Zarumba as managing director–Regulatory and Kristie Deiuliis as managing director–Strategy & Planning. Zarumba, who most recently was vice president at Concentric Advisors, is a regulatory expert who brings extensive experience in the electric and natural gas industries. Deiuliis most recently served as chief operating officer at an energy-technology startup she cofounded. Before that, she spent 16 years at DNV GL, where she served as vice president of Energy Markets. 

Northern Oil and Gas has promoted Mike Kelly to chief strategy officer and Jim Evans to executive vice president and chief engineer. Kelly had served as Northern’s executive vice president of Finance. Evans was senior vice president of engineering and previously served as vice president of Engineering and in other roles since joining the company in 2013. 

NRG Energy has promoted Gaetan Frotte to interim chief financial officer, replacing Kirkland Andrews, who stepped down as CFO. Frotte has served as senior vice president and treasurer of the company since December 2015. NRG will conduct a search for a permanent CFO, and Frotte will continue in his role as treasurer.
