DEKOTEC Celebrates Half-Century Presence in Spain
The Spanish sister company of DEKOTEC this year celebrated its 50th anniversary of operations in Spain.
“I would like to thank our customers for 50 years of trust. A good and respectful cooperation is essential for a successful development”, says Marco Hamawi, Managing Director of the branch since 2005.”
The Spanish company, DENSO Quimica SAU, was founded on April 14, 1971, just in time for the construction of the Spanish gas distribution network. The then-newly launched DENSOLEN tape was the right product at the right time, opening the Spanish market by reliably protecting the seam-welded joints of gas pipes in supra-regional networks and private households from corrosion.
With the completion of the gas infrastructure network expansion, the Spanish branch started the 21st century by gaining a foothold with an expanded range of products in road construction. In the 2010s, during the Spanish economic crisis, the company aimed for the growth markets of Latin America. With its international sales partners, the company started supplying the South American continent from Spain in the following years.
“In its 50-year history, our Spanish company has succeeded very well in growing with the challenges of the markets and supporting customers with reliable solutions,” said Max Wedekind. managing director of DEKOTEC GmbH.
“Technically mature products and innovative offers covering a wide range of applications will continue to be essential for the development of our international Group in the future.”
In 1972, DENSO Group Germany invented the world’s first co-extruded three-layer tape for pipe weld seams, helping to build a strong presence in Spain during a period of infrastructure expansion.
